I was absolutely honored when Teen Vogue invited me to give a lecture for their annual Fashion U Seminar Series! The line up of participants was serious this year: Oscar PR Girl, Man Repeller, and the founders of Who, What, Wear, just to name a few. Being listed amongst these powerful women in the industry was both exciting and nerve racking, so I knew I had to bring my A-Game.

Because I was dreading hearing myself talk for 45 minutes, I thought it would be fun to switch it up and play an interactive game with the students. To start, I broke them up into 4 categories: Fashion, Food, Beauty and Fitness. Their task was simple: pitch a product in their designated category with a marketing plan that HBFit would hypothetically launch, a la Shark Tank. Channeling the intensity of Mark Cuban, I gave them 10 minutes to team up and brainstorm their invention.

The results were incredible. From a wholesale e-commerce site to an all-organic fast food chain to an edible lipstick to a music app powered by your workout; I couldn’t believe how on-brand and creative all their ideas were! This was definitely the most rewarding part of the whole presentation: starting the conversation about health and wellness and really having the students’ imaginations run wild.

This is the goal for HBFit: to be a conversation starter that serves a platform for a larger discussion of how we can all be the best versions of ourselves. I hope that the students felt that way, and that all of you reading this do too!
