It’s our founder, Hannah Bronfman’s, birthday today, so naturally she takes the cake for our WCW this week! On top of starting HBFIT, spinning some serious beats around the globe, being a #girlboss, constantly getting her sweat on, and staying on top of all the latest beauty trends, she somehow still manages to make sure she’s always there for her #HBFITgirls. We got the scoop on how she balances it all and what has inspired her from the beginning. Keep reading to find out!
How did you first get into health and fitness?
I’ve always been pretty active. Growing up as a ballerina, there was a lot of pressure on body image. Once I took on a healthy lifestyle for myself, I started developing a consistent routine and adapted healthy habits over time. My grandmother passed away after her struggle with anorexia, so that really inspired me to take care of my body and put my health first as I’ve grown older.
What advice would you give to someone looking to transition to a healthier lifestyle?
I would tell them to take baby steps and be patient. There’s no quick fix, so take your time. Long terms goals are always more effective than short term ones, so focus on big-picture victories instead of taking extreme measures for immediate results.
This month is all about female empowerment and strong women. Who is a strong woman who inspires you?
My mom. Growing up, she always told me to treat my body like a temple, and that mantra has truly stuck with me to this day. She’s strong, independent, super talented, but also incredibly modest.
Why did you start HBFIT? What advice would you give to girls looking to start their own business?
When I started getting into fitness, my eating habits completely changed. After struggling with years of stomach pain and bloating, I decided to cut out gluten and dairy, which wasn’t as trendy at the time! Because I was trying all kinds of new healthy eating habits, I wanted to create a space where I could offer my experience and knowledge and form a community around healthy living. That’s where the idea for HBFIT originated. For any girl starting out as an entrepreneur, I would tell her to trust herself but be open to anything in the process. Find your passion, ask lots of questions, and never think that everything has already been done.
How did you get into DJing?
My father was a songwriter and my mother was a performer, so music is in my blood. I used to bond over music with my siblings, who are both incredibly talented. I started DJing at a local bar in college, which led to doing nightclubs and bigger events once I moved back to New York City.
That was nearly 8 years ago.
What’s your healthy living philosophy?
I think for me, balance is really important when it comes to health, both physically and mentally. We can overwork ourselves and try to juggle everything, or we can slow down and listen to our bodies. There are going to be days that you may not get a sweat in cause you have crazy meetings or just don’t feel like it and that is okay. Also knowing when to push yourself and when you are being lazy. You can’t be healthy without the right balance.
What’s your workout of choice?
I like to switch it up so I never get bored. Right now I’m loving Mile High Run Club, which is funny because I’ve never been much of a runner. You feel amazing after you completely kill it in class.
What does your typical morning routine look like?
With all of the travelling I do, it’s pretty rare that I have a “typical” morning. When I’m up at 5 AM for a flight, I try to get the essentials taken care of, like washing my face, checking my e-mail, and packing healthy snacks or organic juices for fuel. When I’m in the city, I like to start my day with Matcha and a sweat session. Getting a workout in early is important because so many things come up later on in the day. Might as well get it in when you can!
What are three things you’d never leave the house without?
Keys, phone, and wallet. All the essentials!
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I shaved my head long before Rihanna and social media!
What’s your #HBFIT snack of choice?
I love slicing 1/4 an avocado and cucumbers with a bit of sesame oil and sesame seeds. If I want something sweet I’ll have a grapefruit.

What role do you think empowerment plays in a healthy lifestyle?
Feeling empowered is SO important when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle. The wellness industry has become so huge, and there are so many misconceptions out there of what being “healthy” really means. With all the fad diets and quick tricks on the market, it just comes down to how you feel. If you treat your body right and take care of yourself, you’ll feel your best and be empowered to do anything.
